3. Buy Your First NFT!
You’ve got the knowledge, you’ve got the currency, now it’s time to buy the art!
I will talk you through the purchase of your first NFT using MY first minted NFT as an example! How convenient!
My first NFT is up on a platform called OpenSea. Let’s start by going to OpenSea and connecting our wallets by clicking on the little profile icon in the top righthand corner, and then click “connect wallet”. I have found that the wallet connection is really seamless, just make sure you are still using Google Chrome as your browser.
Now you have a profile on an NFT site and you can browse and look around at all the different NFTs that you might want to buy! Let’s look at this BEAUTIFUL NFT as an example!
This is the very first NFT I ever minted (we can learn more about minting later, but it just means to take the art and officially turn it into an NFT), and it can be yours!
Click here to visit it where it lives officially on OpenSea!
To buy it, you click BUY NOW, and then, you buy it! Then it’s yours! Like art prints, NFTs can be sold in editions, and the smaller the edition, the more it is worth. So for example, an NFT that only has 1 edition, will be a lot more costly than the above open-edition which has 100 available. Like physical art, NFTs have different points of entry depending on how much you want to spend.
My very first 1/1 NFT is up on a more exclusive platform called Foundation. You can create a profile on Foundation the same way you did on OpenSea, and search for some more valuable, more rare NFTs. All of the NFTs on Foundation are for sale in auction format, so there is some fun action to watch there!
